A 2010 Summer Mix Tape

Explanations for why I chose each individual song for this playlist are not necessary; the umbrella explanation is this: put all of these songs on a CD — and then hop in a car with rolled-down windows, your ipod while strolling down a sunlit street, have a random patio dance party with your friends, and so on — it’s an instantaneous party! I chose some of the songs for this list that may not otherwise make the summer mix tape 2010 cut – because you haven’t heard of them or they’re old and for-the-moment forgotten or something. I chose other ones because they’re timely and everyone knows them and those songs have a place too, right? These are songs that I’ve been obsessed with this summer because they evoke the good times, and they represent the present, and they’re fun. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: a lot of these songs aren’t by any means quote-unquote “good” – but they’re fun. And isn’t summer all about frivolity?
